Location: MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Neveda, United States

Opponent:   Flag of Mexico   Juan Manuel Marquez

Results: Manny Pacquiao draws with Juan Manuel Marquez  in the 12th Round.

Title Belt Contested: WBA and IBF featherweight title

After Pacquiao's stunning defeat of Mexican legend Barrera, Manny took on another challenge with another respected Mexican puncher, Juan Manuel Marquez, then the reigning  WBA and IBF featherweight champ.  Pacquiao was looking to establish his name and quickly knocked down Marquez three times in the first round.  Marquez, however withstood the knock downs and came fighting back with accurate punches to win most of the latter rounds.  Back and forth both fighters went until the fight finally ended with a controversial draw in which both camp claimed victory immediately after the bout was over.  One of the judges later admitted that he had made an error by scoring the first round 10-7 in favor of Pacquiao instead of the standard 10-6 score for a three knockdown round.  It would take four years before both fighters met again, and once again it was a slug fest and once again in was controversial. Put it in anyways, the consensus out there in the boxing world is that Pacquiao should have won this fight.
