On May 2nd, 2009 Manny Pacquiao further cemented his legacy as one of boxing’s all time great by defeating Ricky Hatton in devastating fashion. From the sound of the bell Ricky Hatton tried to intimidate and pressure Pacquiao with his bigger size. The Hatton had touted that Ricky was a new fighter with faster hands and better head movement, none of the above was exhibited by Ricky Hatton.
The sluggish and less spectacular Hatton was quickly knocked down twice in the first round. Ricky Hatton felt the power and speed of Manny Pacquiao and quickly became is old self. Hatton’s strategy of pressuring Pacquiao became his worst enemy. Manny Pacquiao simply had to wait for Hatton to walk into Pacquiao’s precision blade cutting punches.
The fight ended in round two when with 10 seconds left on the clock, Manny Pacquiao delivered a cold blooded left hook that left Hatton laying on the canvas motionless.
