Originally Bob Arum and Top Rank wanted the fight to be against Marco Antonio Barrera but a failed negotiation and subsequent lawsuit led Top Rank to choose Jorge Solis as Pacquiao's next opponent among many Arum offered to fight in Barrera's replacement.  The fight was on April 14, 2007 at the Alamodone, in San Antonio, Texas.  Pacquiao was never threatened in this fight except for an accidental headbutt betwee the two fighters in the sixth round which gave Pacquiao a cut under his left eyebrow. The fight was concluded in the eighth round when Pacquiao knocked down Solis twice.  Solis was barely able to get up after teh second knockdown, so the referee quickly called the fight. Pacquiao was now 44-3-2 with 34 KOs and was primed for another big fight aheard.
