Only a few days after the so call Dream Match ended with what could possibly be Oscar De La Hoya’s last match. Some of us including myself are insatiably waiting to see who Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent should be. I know everybody wants a Manny Pacquiao versus Mayweather Jr. fight, but hold your horses on that idea. Manny Pacquiao’s more realistic match would probably be against Ricky Hatton because for one, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is still retired. Hatton is definitely a formidable opponent with strength, a strong right hook, and the tenacity to keep fighting despite being punished in the ring. Both Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton are similar in height, reach, and now even weight. Both Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton are skilled brawlers that wouldn’t mind going head to head to exchange some really hard hits.

One factor that may give Manny Pacquiao the advantage is that Hatton does struggle against southpaw fighters as evident when Hatton fought Luis Collazo for the WBA welterweight crown in 1996. Fighting a supreme southpaw like Manny Pacquiao will be a huge upgrade from Collazo, and he will nearly have to fight a very skillful fight to win. A Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton battle is a very realistic fight, especially after Hatton expressed his desire to fight the winner of the Manny Pacquiao and De La Hoya match. Hatton, made like a British bulldog with strength and grit versus Manny Pacquiao, an assassin with speed and power will definitely bring about another exciting fight night at the MGM in Las Vegas or what the heck, Wembley Stadium, London.
