Pacquiao Vs Hatton: Fighting To Regain The People’s Trust

Manny Pacquiao
There are many who believe that Manny Pacquiao is like a God to them or at the very least a national hero that can do no wrong.  Pacquiao has once again shown us that he is as human as any one of us. He too will at times succumb to the temptation of money and greed as shown recently in the controversial accusation purporting that he initiated talks to get out of his TV rights contract with Solar Sports to sign with ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. The allegations is that it was Pacquiao that initiated talks with ABS-CBN in order to get a larger paycheck and in hopes that ABS-CBN would give him full coverage and support in his endeavors to enter the political arena.

The controversy at the moment has been laid to rest by all sides so the Philippines’s “National Fist” can concentrate and resume training for his upcoming fight with Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton.  The damage however has already been made, as there is a huge consensus of people that believe Pacquiao was the one that initiated talks with ABS-CBN.  Now some may ask what is the big deal with Pacquiao switching television rights, well the reasons are pretty significant.  If the Filipino fighter had gone through with the switch in such hasty manner considering the short time leading up to the fight, then Solar Sport would surely file a legal complaint on the manner which would have been disastrous. Solar Sports says there is a live and binding contract with Pacquiao and would have taken this matter to the full extent of the law to prevent the fight from even airing on television.  If Pacquiao’s fight was not aired on TV then the people of the Philippines would have been the biggest loser which would have turn Pacquiao, their national treasure into a national scumbag.

Such hair line to a disaster is just not a smart move on Pacquiao’s part especially since he is trying to win the votes of his people once he decides to run for election.  Many people are hurt because they believe their hero has suddenly betrayed them in order to advance himself in both money and politically. After Pacman hangs the gloves for good, Pacquiao in politics will be his next fight. Recently many news articles has stated that Pacquiao is once again more focused than ever because he has lost the hopes and trust in many of his fans and anything less than a victory over Hatton on May 2nd would be the start of the end for Manny Pacquiao.

Pacquaio has recently admitted that such controversy right before his big fight with Ricky Hatton was a mistake on his part but has insisted that it was ABS-CBN that initiated such talk of a buy out from Solar Sports.  ABS-CBN on the other hand claims it was Pacquiao who wanted the switch, thereby creating the trust issue many fans are now having with Pacquiao.

The Filipino people are now watching to see how Manny will make of all this commotion that directly or indirectly has been created by Manny.  The Philippines and its entire people including both television networks have set aside their differences and the controversy itself for the time being.  Every Filipinos knows that ultimately it will be Manny Pacquiao who will put their nation in the spotlight on May 2nd. Once again the whole nation will be watching, as the crime rate will almost be non-existence while he is in the ring and the pride and joy of the Philippines will be left in the gloves of one man.  Manny Pacquiao, even if he is at fault is fully aware that while some are mad at him, they are still silently cheering for him and anything less than a victory against Hatton will be more than a loss in just a number but a loss in the pride and trust of his Filipino people. Manny Pacquiao knows he must win, he knows he must be on his two feet when its all over while the country will once again erupt in jubilation for their national hero.
